I setup a little painting area on the kitchen table yesterday for Willa. At first I thought we'd do a little finger painting, but after I encouraged her to put her finger in the paint, she put the paint right into her mouth! Aargh! So we switched to brushes. She enjoyed her painting, and painting on the freezer paper that was meant to be a guard for the table. She wanted to paint on the backs of the papers too. I tried to explain how this type of art is meant to be viewable from one side only...but I got the sense she felt like I was imposing crazy art rules on her. She's right...there are no rules to art.
[But we continued to paint on one side only. :)]
